The story of the Fairy Stone originates with the indigenous people of Northern Quebec. Native Americans have called this stone Elfstone or Fairy Stone for hundreds of years. They usually wore it as a lucky stone while fishing or hunting. People gave the most beautiful Fairy Stones to their loved ones. The largest specimens were given a special place in their homes because, according to legend, they were said to protect against evil spirits. They were also said to bring good health and prosperity to the residents of that home. One of the main rivers where the Fairy Stone is found is the Harricana River, Canada's second-largest river. Native Americans found these stones on the beaches during their journey to Abitibi and thought they resembled cookies. Harricana means "river of cookies" in the Algonquin language. These stones are found only in Northern Quebec, Canada. They are formed at the bottom of large lakes formed by glaciers. The surface of the stone is usually smooth, while the inside is bumpy. The irregular lines are caused by very small worms or other organic remains that were fossilized millions of years ago
