Soapstone
Soapstone is a natural stone formed from igneous rock that formed in the Earth's crust over two billion years ago. This soft gray stone, with its silky-smooth surface that feels so pleasant to the touch, was formed under extremely high temperatures and immense pressure.
The main minerals in soapstone are talc, magnesite and chlorite.
Talk makes the stone feel wonderfully soft and also easy to work with.
Magnesite ensures rapid heat absorption, good heat conduction, and fire resistance. Soapstone contains proportionally more magnesite than many other soapstone types.
Chlorite and other components found in small quantities provide the beautiful structure and color nuances on the surface of the stone.
